DIY Strawberry Cake for Canines by Chef Sneha Singhi

The season of strawberries is coming to an end! Before you lose sight of them, bake your furry one a strawberry special! Strawberries are packed with fiber and vitamin C. This fruit also has enzymes that can help your furry ones' oral and dental hygiene in a limited capacity. They make for a safe and healthy fruit for your furry one but in moderation. The natural sugar content found in fruits is extremely high. It must be fed in a monitored fashion to your pet.

The recipe we’re about to share with you is by an Instagram celebrity chef and a doting pet parent, Sneha Singhi Upadhya. She is the mother of three beautiful pets, two huskies and one golden retriever. Here’s the delicious recipe for a strawberry cake, straight from Chef Sneha’s kitchen.

This is all you need -

  •         1 ¾ cups of Almond flour/ peanut flour/ oats flour (You can use any   flour-based on your pup’s dietary needs)
  •         3tbsp Coconut Oil
  •         4 eggs
  •         3tbsp Raw Honey
  •         1 cup Chopped strawberries

Let’s get started –

Take a large mixing bowl and start by adding flour (almond, peanut, or oats), eggs, coconut oil, and honey. Whisk all these ingredients together. Make sure there are no lumps in the mixture.

To avoid the formation of lumps, you can add the measured quantity of each ingredient step by step. The flour and eggs can go in first.  You can use an electric whisk or whisk it by hand until it forms a nice mixture. Next, you can add coconut oil and honey. Once the mixture is ready, add chopped strawberries. You can use either fresh or frozen strawberries.

Take your baking tray and place a baking sheet on it. Ensure to grease it with an adequate amount of melted butter. Pour your mixture into the tray.

Preheat your oven for 15 minutes at a temperature of 180 degrees Celsius. Place the tray into the oven and bake the cake until it turns golden brown. To check the doneness of your cake, remove it from the oven and do a toothpick test. You insert a toothpick in any part of the cake and pull it out. If the remains of the batter rub off on the toothpick, pop the cake back into the oven. While the toothpick test helps your cake from getting burned, limit the number of times you check on your cake.

Once it’s baked, let it cool for around 15 to 20 minutes.

Cut the cake into pieces and let them enjoy this delicious strawberry cake. You can store this cake in the fridge for up to a week. You can feed them part of a slice daily or according to their diet plan. Before you cook up a storm in the kitchen, do not forget to consult your veterinarian to understand your pet’s allergies!
