Benefits of Turmeric for Pets

As we know turmeric is the most easily available home remedy for us humans. While being used as a major ingredient in our food, it also has certain medicinal properties. But is turmeric safe for our pets??

The most active ingredient in turmeric is curcumin and it has a lot of healing properties. It is also used as a preventative for pets.

In felines, it helps them prevent cancer, arthritis, skin issues, aids digestion and maintains cardiovascular health.  

In canines, turmeric can prevent arthritis, diabetes, cancer, liver disease, gastrointestinal issues. Curcumin has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antifungal, wound healing and anti-cancer activities.

Initially, it should be given in smaller proportions and should be mixed well in the food.

Turmeric helps control the inflammation in joint disease. Curcumin intervenes with cancer development, growth and its spread.  It has the ability to diminish tumour size cells and kills cancer cells.

In felines, turmeric should be best administered with black pepper. This will help to increase enzyme secretion in the pancreas that aids the digestion process.

Turmeric is a good alternative for steroids that are administered to canines especially for allergies and joint aches.
