DIY Home-Made Ice-Creams for Dogs

DIY Home-Made Ice-Creams for Dogs

Sharing is caring and many pet owners love to share their food with their furry ones. Apart from their regular treats and pet food, ice cream is another food item that most pet parents wish to give their pets. Other than the regular vanilla ice cream that a veterinarian suggests you to opt for, there are alternatives that you can whip up with a few ingredients in your kitchens.

The ingredients that should be a part of your doggo’s ice-cream should include plain and natural yogurt along with the appropriate fruits that are suitable for their consumption. The fruits include strawberries and bananas. For additional flavour, you could throw in a dash of peanut butter.

These home-made ice-creams last for up to eight weeks in your freezer.  So your furry one can relish them for a long time.

Here are simple ice-cream recipes to treat your furry one:

Banana and Strawberry Dog Ice-cream

Most pooches enjoy bananas and strawberries. This recipe is made up of these two flavours.

Ingredients: 10 fresh strawberries, 1 medium-sized ripe banana, 1 cup natural plain yogurt (low fat)

(4 servings)

Procedure: With the help of a masher, mash the strawberries until they become soft. Add the banana into this mix and continue to mash. Now add the yogurt and mix until a well-combined paste is formed.

Pour this into an airtight container and freeze for a minimum of four hours. It would be preferable to keep them overnight.

Peanut Butter, Banana and Strawberry Ice-cream

Ingredients: 1 small ripe banana, ½ cup peanut butter unsalted, 1 cup natural plain yogurt, 5 strawberries

(4 servings)

Procedure: Mash the bananas into a fine paste and then toss in the peanut butter followed by a cup of yogurt. Mix this all until you get a smooth paste.

Make a puree out of the strawberries and toss it into the mixture. Mix them all together and pour this mixture into an airtight container and freeze for about four hours. However overnight is preferred.

Your furry one’s yummy dog ice-cream is ready to be consumed the next day. Remember to keep it frozen and it will last for about eight weeks.
