What is the best way to shower your furry baby with love? No, it’s not a home-cooked meal but, homemade treats. Pets enjoy gorging on treats. It is the best way to tell them how much you wuv them!
If your furry one’s taste buds are bored of the same treats, a homemade treat can be the change they need. So why not suprrise his or her tastebuds with salmon nugget treats! Cats yearn for salmon and this surely does sound like a nice twist to their diet. The treat might sound very difficult to prepare, but it’s as simple as a walk in the park!
To prepare this mouth-watering treat you need to keep these ingredients ready –
- Salmon (You may also use canned salmon)
- Eggs
- Almond Flour
- Fish-shaped cookie cutter (To make the nuggets look interesting)
Once you have all the ingredients ready let’s get the ball rolling! Or should we say “Let’s get the salmon rolling!”
Put the salmon in a mixer grinder. If you are using canned salmon do not drain the liquid. You can add the canned salmon with the liquid into the mixer grinder. Grind the salmon to make a mince out of it. ( No not mince pie! ) Pieces of the salmon must be smaller compared to minced fish.
After grinding the salmon, transfer it into a mixing bowl. Now, add one egg and a cup of almond flour into the mixing bowl and mix it well. Keep adding the flour into the mixture in small portions i.e. 1 table-spoon gradually to form the dough. Ensure the dough is not too soft and not too hard. The consistency of the dough must be similar to a cookie's dough.
Sprinkle some flour on the clean and plain working counter of the kitchen. Take a smaller portion of the dough and roll it. With the help of a cookie cutter, cut the dough into different shapes. We recommend using fish-shaped cutters as this will grab the attention of your furry baby! You can go into the market and look for other cool cookie cutter shapes and sizes that may appeal to your furry one.
Pre-heat your microwave or oven for 15 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius. Take an oven tray, place a baking sheet, and grease it well with butter. Place the nuggets on the sheet and put them in the oven. Heat them at 350 degrees Celsius until the outer is crisp and golden brown for 20 minutes.
You can store these nuggets in an air-tight container after they’ve cooled down. The nuggets can be stored for around two weeks. You can use any other fish instead of salmon such as tuna, sardines, etc. Ensure your cat is not allergic to any of the ingredients used in the process. Do consult your veterinarian before you decide to bake up a storm!
Now enough of the wait! Let your furry one enjoy these delicious salmon nuggets.
